Teknaf Game Reserve is the only game reserve forest in Bangladesh.[1] It comprises an area of 11,615 hectare. This is one of the few places in Bangladesh where Elephants can be seen in the wild. It was established in 1983 to protect wild Asian Elephants. It is located in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar District.[2]

The Teknaf Game Reserve in Cox’s Bazar district is situated approximately between 20055´ and 2105´ north Latitude and 92010´ and 92018´ east Longitude in the southeast part of Bangladesh. Teknaf was declared a game reserve in 1983 under the Bangladesh Wildlife (Preservation) (Amendment) Act, 1974.The area of Teknaf Game Reserve is 11,651ha.Teknaf has a humid tropical monsoon climate. Located on the banks of the Naf River. The area due to its seaside position near the Bay of Bengal receives strong winds from the southwest in the summer and gentler northeastern winds in the winter. The area is blessed with a warm tropical climate and sufficient rainfall which enable to support a wide biological diversity. It encompasses three biological series, Surma Series, Tipam Series and Dupi Series (Choudhury 1969).
